ORSP: Kansas City Royals

And we close out the week with the best last place team in the AL during the 2010 campaign… that’s a thing, right?

Biggest Additions: Jeff Francoeur, Melky Cabrera, Alcides Escobar, Jeff Francis, Lorenzo Cain

Biggest Subtractions: Zack Greinke, Gil Meche, Brian Bannister, David DeJesus, Yuniesky Betancourt

Offseason Review: Good news, Royals fans!  The team has once again shown it’s commitment to rebuilding!  Of course, they’ve been rebuilding since 1985.  Quite frankly, if I had a contractor that was working on a project for that long, I’d probably fire him by now.  Well, at least Kauffman Stadium has that awesome waterfall… it’s still there, right?  Realistically, the best thing the Royals did was get rid of their ace, Zack Greinke, who had basically lost interest in playing in KC.  They didn’t get a bad package in return, either.

Season Preview: As with all teams that openly acknowledge their rebuilding process, this is going to be a long season.  The most interesting aspect of the Royals’ 2011 campaign is whether or not they can stay ahead of the Indians.  They will, but not by much.

Final Record: 70-92, 4th in the AL Central
